ActOne
One-for-All Intelligent Investigations Platform
The Product
Financial crime investigation platform.
My Role
UX Expert, focusing on new features & solutions integration within the Platform; Creating a UX structure; improving the existing Platform appearance. Developing interactive prototypes matching the customer needs, with an understanding of constraints.
About the Product
How the product helps the investigators
Financial crime investigations aren’t easy. As the market’s AI-enabled investigation management platform, ActOne improves decision-making and reduces investigation time for a single alert.
ActOne makes Investigator's life dramatically easier. It unifies data, employs visual storytelling and uses advanced automation to gain a single view of entity risk.
A professional challenge
As a UX Expert, my goal is to understand an investigation story and create a workflow as clearly as possible. The ActOne Platform contains a number of solutions, and each of them is focusing on a specific field. I was responsible for integrating new features in the AML (Anty Money Laundry) and other platform solutions.

Party Snapshots Widget
Overview and Goals
The main goal of the widget is to compare the party version details at the alert time vs. the current party status.
This Widget should help the investigator see the whole picture of party snapshots (versions) and quickly identify the changes. The challenge was to present the data in a clear form that helps the investigator.
The Process
My goal as a UX designer was to find a clear visual way to present Party details through different time points and compare them. For this purpose, I've made competitive research on comparison tools.
The Solution
The Party Snapshots are presented as Cards one next to another, which allows the user to easily detect the attribute changes and compare them to the Current party status. The attributes which differ from the Current status are highlighted.
The "Current Status" card is always presented and cannot be removed. The snapshot cards which have been added by the user can be removed from the canvas. The widget allows the user to view different party snapshots (whether alerted or not), detect the data changes, and compare them to the Current Status.
Navigation and Flow
-
As the widget opens – the "Current Status" Card is presented on canvas from the left. Next to it (on the right hand) there is an empty "ghost" card with a "Select Snapshots" button.
-
By selecting the "Select Snapshots" button, the Compare Snapshot dialog popup opens. The user selects which snapshots to show. There is an option to filter the list by date range and search.
-
The search input field behaves as a filter so that it displays only the rows that match the filter criteria.
-
After choosing the snapshots and clicking the "Compare" button, the selected Snapshot cards are added to the canvas.
-
After the user adds one or more snapshots, the "Compare Snapshots" button moves to the right top corner. It allows the user to add additional snapshot cards to the canvas at any time.
-
The number of presented cards is limited to 10 (is configurable).
-
Whenever the snapshot cards step out of the user's screen – a horizontal scrollbar appears.
-
Chosen cards could be easily removed from the canvas by selecting the close ("X") button at the top right card corner.
-
The already selected snapshots are checked in advance at the compare snapshot popup.
Relations Diagram Layer
Overview and Goals
The goal is to present additional information data on the relation diagram. This kind of information data should behave as an additional layer on the existing diagram. My task was to choose a clear visual way to present the layer with consideration of the technical limitations of the diagram.
The Process
The new structure refers to Beneficial Ownership information, which allows the user to see all the beneficial ownership networks for the main party.
The BO layer, once activated, will change the visual status of the existing nodes. Also, it will bring additional players, that are part of the Beneficial Ownership network.
The Solution
BO Structure layer visual indications: Satellite icons – Owner & Controller indication; Node outline style (to clearly define the entire BO network); Arrow color; Show the intermediate percentage of the ownership on the arrows (as a text).
Timeline Controller
Overview and Goals
Ability to show the investigation steps through the Timeline. That will allow the analyst to see the whole picture of the Alert investigation from past events to the current status or the Alert creation date.
The Process
My vision was to present the Timeline as a horizontal bar. I imagine the Alert developing process as a movie, which could be backward with an option to view selected slides from the past. As a visual concept, I took a movie progress timeline.
First Concept
The Timeline is a floating element on the Relations Diagram. It could be closed when doesn't need it. By clicking on each step of the Timeline - the presentation of the diagram is changed accordingly.
Request for Change. The Final Solution
As we work in a dynamic environment, it's important to adapt to the technical requests from R&D and Product teams, which often may affect the visual concept of the product. The request was to add an ability to add/remove additional steps in the timeline. Finally, the decision was to change the visual concept of the Timeline from the horizontal bar to a vertical dropdown. Also, the location of the Timeline was changed - it moved to the top left side of the widget.
Market Place Concept
Overview and Goals
The idea was to create a visual example of how the user can build his personal display for each alert type. We provide widgets in our widget store, and the user picks the widgets that are useful for his investigation process.
The Result
The interactive Mockup provides a sense of the detailed experience of modifying the personalized investigation panel based on the user's needs. The User chooses a template from the list, makes a copy of it, and starts to modify it. There are options for adding new presets to the panel and dragging suitable widgets to it. Also, there is an option to add horizontal tabs to an existing preset.
Automation Features
Overview and Goals
These days, many enterprises choose to integrate automation features and processes into their products. In our Product, we used a virtual assistant who behaves like a cartoon secretary, advising the user to make certain actions in real-time.
In this specific Solution (Fraud monitoring), the virtual assistant advises retrieving data from the bank's internal system about the investigation person. It also displays the location of the parties in a geolocation widget and helps the user to avoid a wrong decision.
The Process
Research about similar automation assistants in various complex systems helped to understand the needs.
The Concept
As a result, it is presented an interactive assistant whose behavior is dependent on the User's actions. The user's workflow triggers the assistant suggestions and warnings.
Creating a Report
Overview and Goals
The goal was to create a friendly and intuitive workflow for opening an interactive Report for the bank customer.
The Process
Researching similar features from different industries. Using the Master-Details layout.
The Concept
As a result, the feature is presented as an interactive mockup that allows the user to go through the process and to get a sense of the real user experience.
